Rising summer temperatures, poorly insulated attic apartments, and a lack of permits for permanently installed split air conditioning systems mean that mobile air conditioners with exhaust hoses are rapidly gaining importance in Switzerland and throughout Europe. These devices offer a flexible, ready-to-use, and comparatively cost-effective way to efficiently cool living spaces, offices, or bedrooms.

A mobile air conditioner operates on the principle of a compressor refrigeration circuit. Warm room air is drawn in, cooled by a refrigerant inside, and then released back into the room as cold air. However, the extracted heat must be dissipated — this is precisely what the exhaust hose is for.

This hose is typically routed out of a window or door. Without this heat dissipation, the unit would not effectively cool the room.

Modern devices mostly range between 9000 and 12000 BTU/h. This corresponds to a cooling capacity of approx. 2.6 to 3.5 kW and is sufficient for rooms from 20 to 40 square meters.
