What does an air conditioning system with installation cost in Switzerland?

The final price of professional air conditioning depends on many individual factors. How much cooling is needed, what are the cooling loads, and how many rooms need to be air-conditioned simultaneously?

Very relevant for the installation costs is the exact distance between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit, because the required copper connection lines and insulation are relatively expensive. The shorter the pipe runs can be kept, the lower the installation costs. Furthermore, the choice of equipment brand is a significant factor influencing the price.

Our comprehensive product range includes various well-known manufacturers, such as Mitsubishi Electric in the high-end segment, but also the more affordable alternatives from Gree and Carrier, where you get proven quality at an excellent price-performance ratio.

For initial orientation and budget planning, here are real calculation examples of recently completed installations with very high-quality Mitsubishi air conditioning units:

Example 1: Apartment Bedroom + Living Room

Multi-split system: 2 indoor units, 1 outdoor unit
Cooling requirement: 5 kW | Pipe run: 7m + 12m

Price: CHF 7,480.- incl. VAT.
Example 2: Commercial Office floor with 14 offices

System: 2 outdoor units + 14 indoor units (VRF/Multisplit)
Pipe run: Ø 12m per unit

Price: CHF 63,000.- incl. VAT.

It's best to simply ask us for the individual price for your desired climate, as the creation of a customized quote is completely free of charge.

How does the installation of a split air conditioner work?

How does the installation of a split air conditioner work?

The professional installation of a modern split air conditioning system involves several precisely defined technical steps: Site analysis → Indoor unit installation → Core drilling through the exterior wall → Pipe laying → Outdoor unit installation → Refrigerant connection → Leak test (evacuation) → Commissioning & Instruction.

1. Planning & Site Analysis Before installation, it is checked where the indoor and outdoor units can be optimally placed. Crucial factors include airflow, pipe runs, statics, and the strict noise protection regulations of the municipalities (especially in the cantons of Zurich & Aargau).
2. Installation of the Indoor Unit The indoor unit (wall-mounted or floor-standing unit) is mounted on the wall and precisely leveled. Meticulous attention is paid to ensuring that the cooling air is optimally distributed in the room and that there are no obstacles in the direct airflow.
3. Core Drilling & Pipe Routing Through a small, professional wall opening (approx. 60–80 mm) to the outside, the insulated copper lines, the condensate pipe for the condensation water, and the electrical connection cable are neatly laid.
4. Installation of the Outdoor Unit The outdoor unit is mounted on stable ground consoles, a sound-decoupled wall bracket, or directly on the roof. Important here is unhindered air circulation and effective vibration decoupling for noise reduction.
5. Connection of Refrigerant Lines The copper lines are professionally evacuated, screwed or soldered with flared connections, and then subjected to a strict leak test. This step is crucial for maximum energy efficiency and the lifespan of the air conditioning system.
6. Electrical Connection The air conditioner is safely connected to the power grid. Often, a separate, independently fused circuit is required for this, which must be carried out by certified electricians in Switzerland in accordance with NIN regulations.
7. Evacuation & Commissioning The entire closed system is completely evacuated using a vacuum pump to remove harmful moisture and air. Only then is the environmentally friendly refrigerant released and the system started.
8. Function & Efficiency Test Finally, the cooling capacity, power consumption, and noise level are checked under real conditions. A clean handover and instruction of the controls (remote control/app) are provided to the customer.
